Great night with great friend's, and a lovely meal+friendly atmosphere....
Outstanding pub/restaurant, not many places like this left, old school in all the right ways, open log fire, friendly staff, kid friendly, amazing food, massive choice, clean. Very good price, 100% recommend!!!
Having read good reviews we booked up for Sunday lunch for four. As soon as we entered we were impressed by the friendly welcome from behind the bar. We were seated in the conservatory restaurant which, for a cold winter afternoon was well heated with pleasant background music that was at just the right volume to add atmosphere, without being obtrusive. We all had a starter, 2 soups, a garlic mushroom and a fishcake. Each was served in good time and we all enjoyed. For our main course we all chose the beef and boy we were not disappointed. The veg (carrots, broccoli and cauliflower) was cooked to perfection, firm but not al dente, and the very generous portions of beef were melt in the mouth. With just enough room for dessert we had the strawberry cheesecake and the lightest of lemon sponge with custard. Again delicious. The service from the 3 young waiting staff was faultless and the whole experience was a joy. Well done on your high standards of food and service, which you clearly work hard to achieve. Wish you were our local pub but in any event we will be back many times in the future.
Great food! Kind lady at the bar but service could be a bit quicker
Following my original review I am pleased to update with a 100% improvement. Although I could not comment previously on the food, this time around the food was really lovely. A variety of choice. I had the garlic mushrooms and lamb cutlets which were beautiful. We were sat by the fire which was cosy and welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive. A very relaxed and enjoyable meal.
